Environment States - Kerala Green rating for factories Our Bureau Kochi, July 29 A Lead Rating for Factories, prepared by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), will be presented at a function on August 1. Architect Mr B.R. Ajith, chairman, IGBC, Cochin chapter, in a press release said that green concepts and techniques can help address national issues such as energy efficiency, conservation of natural resources, handling of consumer waste, water efficiency, and reduction in fossil fuel use in commuting. Most importantly, these concepts can enhance occupant health, happiness and well-being. IGBC has set up the Green Factory Core Committee to develop the rating programme. This committee comprises key stakeholders including corporates, architects, developers, manufacturers and institutions. This rating system would addressfactory buildings, and not the processes. Green factory concept can have tremendous benefits, both tangible and intangible. The most tangible benefits are the reduction in water and energy consumption right from day of occupancy.
