CIL scouts for overseas mining assets

New Delhi, July 27 Coal India Ltd (CIL) is scouting coal assets in the US, Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, and Mozambique.

The coal major has also floated an expression of interest to select strategic partners for mining business in most of these locations, the Government said on Monday.

“CIL intends acquiring coal mining blocks abroad, to develop and produce from such mines and import the produce to India,” the Minister of State for Coal, Mr Sriprakash Jaiswal, told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
