New Delhi, July 16

The Minister of Food Processing Industries, Mr Subodh Kant Sahay, told Parliament on Thursday that the Government has approved the setting up of Mega Food Parks in 10 States. Also foundation stones for the parks have already been laid in six locations. Mega Food Parks will house food processing factories and aims at linking the farmers to the food processing industries. The Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for these parks in Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Assam were accepted by the Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee in March 2009, and the first instalment of Rs 5 crore was released on March 31.
