Hyderabad, July 16 Ocimum Biosolutions has obtained a US patent for the method it has developed to manage and query gene expression data according to quality. Gene expression data are useful in understanding diseases, developing new drugs and diagnostics.

They help in knowing how a person’s genes respond to drugs as well.

The invention is aimed at providing a centralised application for viewing, masking and pass/failing DNA probe micro arrays, or “chips”, making use of image processing metrics and limits.

Gene expression is the process by which information from a gene is used in the synthesis of a functional gene product.
