Sterlite bags Tuticorin Port award

Madurai, July 15

Sterlite Industries (I) Ltd (SIIL), Tuticorin, has won the award for Excellence in Traffic Performance from Tuticorin Port Trust for the fourth consecutive year.Ms P. Geetha Jeevan, Minister for Social Welfare, presented the certificate and award for Handling Highest Volume of Exports to Mr Vivek Savant, General Manager – Commercial, SIIL, in the presence of Mr S.R. Jeyadurai, Member of Parliament, Tuticorin Constituency, Mr G.J. Rao, Chairman, and Mr A. Subbiah, De puty Chairman, Tuticorin Port Trust. The certificate and award for Handling Highest Volume of Imports (Excluding Thermal Coal) was presented to Mr Kalpesh Ved, Associate General Manager, Logistics, SIIL. SIIL imported 17.55 lakh tonnes of copper concentrate and rock phosphate via Tuticorin port last year while volume of exports was 7.39 lakh tonnes.
