Airlines Industry & Economy - Petroleum Aviation fuel price cut; airlines still to decide on fares Our Bureau New Delhi, July 15 The price that domestic airlines will have to pay for aviation turbine fuel will come down from midnight tonight. On Wednesday oil companies announced a reduction in ATF prices ranging from Rs 2.22 a litre in Delhi to Rs 2.36 a litre in Chennai. From midnight domestic airlines will pay Rs 36.33 for a litre of ATF while earlier they were paying 38.55 for a litre in Delhi while in Chennai airlines will pay Rs 40.16 for a litre down from Rs 42.52 earlier. Fuel prices constitute between 45-50 per cent of the operating cost of most domestic airlines. Domestic oil companies now change ATF prices twice a month on the 1st and 15th so as to reflect the global movement in the price of the fuel. It was not immediately clear whether the nine domestic airlines will look at lowering fares and pass on the benefit of a lower fuel bill to the passenger.
