Thiruvananthapuram, July 15

The Kochi-based Jacsons Group is entering the retailing space with Jacsons Wood Mart, a store selling a range of wood-based interior decoration products.

Speaking at a press conference in the city on Tuesday evening, Mr Thommen Jacob, Managing Director, Jacsons Group, said that the first Jacsons Wood Mart outlet will open in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. The company plans to set up Wood Mart stores in all major cities in Kerala before expanding its retail network to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, he added.

Wood Mart stores will be a one-stop shop for a range of products manufactured by the company, including pre-hung doors, veneers, solid wood boards, kitchen and wardrobe doors and clip-on wood wall panelling.

The store will also sell products like locks, hinges, handles and knobs. The group plans to introduce fire-rated doors and sound-proof doors. Specially trained staff in the Wood Mart stores will help customers choose products that suit their needs and budget, he added.

Jacsons also manufactures and sells furniture under the Jacsons Furniture brand, Mr Jacob said. The group has plans to enhance its presence in the office furniture market, both in India and abroad, said a company press release.

According to Mr Jacob, the Jacsons Group has a turnover of Rs 45-50 crore. The group entered the forestry and wood business over 150 years ago and ventured into the veneers business in 1979. Besides selling its products in the domestic market, the group also exports products to markets such as Europe and the US.
