Industry Associations States - Kerala Chamber upbeat on ‘Focus Kerala’ meet Our Bureau Kochi, July 15 Kerala’s industrial and business community is upbeat about Focus Kerala 2009, a world investors meet organised by the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry later this month in Kochi. The meet is aimed at addressing the challenges posed by the global economic slowdown and recession, Mr K.M. Abdulla, Chairman of the chamber, said. Preparations for the meet are in full swing and the chamber has conducted roadshows in the Gulf countries and Far-East in association with the chambers and consulates of these countries. KCCI has identified sick units looking for investors for joint venture partnerships from all districts of the State. Federal Bank, KSIDC, Kinfra, INKEL, KFC and many other banks are sponsoring the event. According to Mr Abdulla, Focus Kerala is planned to be an ongoing project for the next five years providing support and facilitation from all statutory bodies and agencies of the Government. “The idea is to attract at least Rs 10,000 crore investment into the State in the next five years,” he said. The chamber, he said, has identified 11 sectors of investment as ideal and viable for investments. The meet will discuss investment opportunities in these sectors, of which Tourism, Food processing, Infrastructure, IT (Information Technology) and Logistics will be highlighted as key areas.
