GVK Bio in pact with Tokyo varsity

Hyderabad, June 29

GVK Biosciences has entered into an agreement with Dr Kimito Funatsu, University of Tokyo, on the use of chemical, biological and pharmacological information of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) database. According to the agreement, Dr Funatsu, who teaches at the Department of Chemical System Engineering, University of Tokyo, would utilise the manually curated GPCR inhibitor database of the Hyderabad-based company. The database includes over one million published and pate nted inhibitors and over four million quantitative structure-activity points, to develop advanced cheminformatics tools which are useful in drug discovery. “The efforts of the collaboration would result in the development of advanced cheminformatics tools that would utilise the vast amount of published and patented knowledge to further accelerate drug discovery,” Mr Sreeni Devidas, Vice-President Business Development, GVK Bio, said in a release.
