Remondis forays into Indian waters

Our Bureau

Pune, June 26 German water management company Remondis Aqua International GmbH has launched Remondis Aqua (India) Private Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary based in Pune.

The company has entered the expanding Indian water and waste-water treatment market through the acquisition of Shrushti Consultants, a Pune company which has been providing and operating water supply and treatment plants for the industry.

As part of the acquisition, Remondis takes on all the 100 employees of Shrushti as also the 11 management contracts for water treatment plants in Maharashtra — nine for industrial clients and two for municipal water supply, waste water collection and disposal.

The company has appointed Dr Lars Meierling and Mr Dennis Pulimittathu as managing directors. They are joined by the former Shrushti Director, Mr Mukund Dhadge.

Outstanding opportunities

“The dynamics of the Indian market promises outstanding opportunities, particularly in the industrial water supply and waste water treatment sector. Due to the ever-growing gap between demand and supply of water, the Indian water sector is set to witness a phenomenal growth. In the long term, it may even be possible to expand the business to include waste management,” Mr Pulimittathu said.

Company details

Since its foundation in 1934, Remondis AG & Co KG has been into water and waste management. The group operates about 500 subsidiaries and associated companies in 20 European countries and also China, Japan, Taiwan and Australia.

Remondis provides contracting solutions for industrial water management and has implemented numerous industrial projects with MAN, BASF, Henkel, AkzoNobel, GEA, Saxonia and Deutsche Nickel. In recent times it has undertaken waste water projects in Spain, Poland and Turkey.
