PFC to raise Rs 23,000 cr

New Delhi, June 23

Power Finance Corporation (PFC) said on Tuesday it will raise Rs 23,000 crore by the end of this fiscal for financing various power projects. “We will raise Rs 23,000 crore this fiscal. The fund-raising will be through a combination of bonds and structured deals,” the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Satnam Singh, told reporters here. The state-owned company is also looking at disbursing funds worth Rs 23,000 crore during the current financial year, Mr Singh said. He also said the Request for Qualification for three new Ultra Mega Power Projects in the States of Tamil Nadu, Orissa and Chhattisgarh would be invited over the next three months.

PFC had reported a 64 per cent jump in consolidated net profit for the year ended March 31, 2009 at Rs 1,979.69 crore. The company’s total income rose to Rs 6,572.02 crore for the fiscal ended March 2009, up from Rs 5,029.27 crore in the previous year. —
