People Govt yet to appoint TAMP chairman Our Bureau New Delhi, June 20 The Government has not been able to appoint a full-time Chairman for the Tariff Authority for Major Ports (TAMP) for about 20-21 months now. Mr Brahm Dutt, Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has been holding the additional charge of TAMP since November 2007. He is currently in charge till June 30. TAMP has not had a full- time Chairman since October 2007. TAMP is supposed to have a Chairman and two members. A search committee for appointing the TAMP Chairman was set up under the chairmanship of Mr Dutt. It had suggested three names — Mr Santosh Nautiyal, former NHAI Chairman; Ms Rani Jadhav, former Mumbai Port Trust Chairman and Mr A.K. Mohapatra, former Shipping Secretary. The committee had suggested the name of Mr Nautiyal, which was subsequently turned down by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. The committee turned down Mr Nautiyal’s candidature citing lack of experience in the shipping sector, it is understood. More Stories on : People | Shipping/Ports
