Maya Appliances enters west India with Preethi

Chennai, June 18

The Chennai-based Rs 227 crore Maya Appliances is making a foray into the western region with its kitchen appliance brand – Preethi.

Offering a range of mixer grinders, table top wet grinders, coffee makers, gas stove electronics, microwave ovens and irons, the kitchen appliance company has earmarked a marketing spend between 8 per cent and 10 per cent of its turnover to expand into new markets and product categories.

At a press conference, Mr Vijay Srinivasan, Director-Marketing, Maya Appliances said, “In the past three years the company has invested Rs 10 crore on a year-on-year basis. We are expecting to grow at 30 per ce nt this year.”

With a 52 per cent share in the mixer grinder category in Tamil Nadu, Preethi services its brand through 7,000 dealers and has 60 company-owned branches.

“The mixer grinder market is still under penetrated and category is growing between 7 per cent and 8 per cent,” added Mr Srinivasan.

Maya Appliances is targeting a turnover of Rs 500 crore in the next three years.
