Aricent to increase headcount this fiscal

Our Bureau

Bangalore, June 17

Even as most companies have frozen hiring, Aricent, a provider of IT solutions to the communications sector, plans to increase its headcount by about 10 per cent in the current fiscal.

The company employs about 8,000 people globally, while in India, the headcount is about 6,000.

“We have squeezed our utilisation,” said Mr Sudip Nandy, CEO, Aricent. “So even for a small growth in business we need to hire.” Aricent reported over 22 per cent growth in revenue in fiscal 2009 over the previous year.

Mr Nandy said the year has been good for the company. “We could have done significantly better if the last two quarters had not been so bad,” he added.

Mr Nandy said though the business has grown in 2009, there has not been any significant growth in headcount.

He said Aricent continues to see good demand from telecom equipment makers, handset makers and from service providers. A large portion of the new demand is related to new technologies such as 4G, WiMax and intelligent networks, Mr Nandy added.
