Three-day Bangalore Bio starts

Bangalore, June 16

The three-day Bangalore Bio 2009 opens on Thursday with the biotechnology industry looking for ways to bloom amidst global gloom. The Union Minister for Science, Technology and Earth Sciences, Mr Prithviraj Chavan, is slated to open the ninth edition of the State's flagship event, a statement from the organisers said. It will highlight the benefits and opportunities of doing business and forging research tie-ups with Indian companies, particularly with those from Karnataka. The theme of the event is `Biotechnology beyond boundaries - the promise of India'. At last count, nearly 150 exhibitors and 700 delegates were due to take part in the event - well above last year's edition.
