FICCI delegation to visit UK

Our Bureau

New Delhi, June 8 With an aim to intensify bilateral trade between the UK and India, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), is taking a 17-member delegation to the UK from June 9 to 10. The FICCI President, Mr Harsh Pati Singhania, will head the delegation.

The delegation comprises CEOs from sectors such as pharmaceuticals, mining, cement, FMCG, energy, and information technology amongst others.

The delegation would be talking to Mr Mervyn Davies, Trade Minister of UK, about the need for a Totalisation Agreement between India and the UK. Also, India’s concerns regarding the stringent conditions introduced by the UK in its visa rules as well as concerns over stringent norms for agricultural and food items would be taken up. Currently, UK standards are much higher than European Union (EU) standards.
