Pragathi Gramin Bank posts Rs 6,208-cr turnover

The public sector Canara Bank-sponsored Pragathi Gramin Bank has emerged as the largest regional rural bank in the State.

The bank has achieved a business turnover of Rs 6,208.98 crore. The bank has 360 branches covering eight districts in the State.

This bank, headquartered in Bellary, is capitalised at Rs 4 crore. RRBs are mostly lenders to the farm sector.

Pragathi Gramin had the distinction of making at least 561 villages in Karnataka free from money lenders of the 1,096 villages covered by it.

It has financed 657 rural godowns.
