Opportunites galore for entrepreneurs: Som Mittal

Hyderabad, June 7 There are many opportunities in information technology sector for entrepreneurs, according to Mr Som Mittal, President, National Association of Software and Services Companies.

Speaking at a panel discussion on entrepreneurship at Indian School of Business here, Mr Mittal said: “As per our study – Perspectives 2020, the entrepreneurial opportunities will be five times more than what they are today in next five years.”

About 80 per cent of these opportunities would be in newer business areas, he added.

The public policy should make doing business in India much easier for young entrepreneurs by eliminating the multiplicity of taxes/regulatory requirements, he said.

Mr Manish Sabharwal, Chairman and Co-Founder, Teamlease, said infrastructure industry and education sector had a lot of scope for new business ventures.

Observing that the nature of entrepreneurship in the country had changed radically after 1991 due to economic reforms, he said reforms in labour, education and skills were needed the hour for better economic environment.

Mr Sushil Handa, Chairman, Claris Lifesciences, said apart from becoming entrepreneurs on their own, graduates of business schools could also choose to work for growing companies and grow along with them.

Prof M. Rammohan Rao, Dean Emeritus, ISB, said there was a need to bring out a white paper on the need, nature and scope of educational reforms in the country.
