Chakrabarty elected IBA Chairman

Mumbai, June 1 Dr K. C. Chakrabarty, Chairman and Managing Director, Punjab National Bank, was elected as Chairman of the Indian Banks’ Association, at the managing committee meeting here on Monday.

He takes over from Mr T. S. Narayanasami, who retired as CMD, Bank of India, on May 31, said an IBA press release.

Mr M. V. Nair, CMD, Union Bank of India, Mr O. P. Bhatt, Chairman, State Bank of India, and Mr Aditya Puri, MD, HDFC Bank, were elected Deputy Chairmen.

Mr V. J. Carneiro, General Manager and CEO, Citizencredit Co-operative Bank, would continue to be Honorary Secretary.

Among those who attended the meeting were Mr Gunit Chadha, Deutsche Bank’s Managing Director and CEO for India; Ms Chanda Kochhar, MD and CEO, ICICI Bank; and Mr Satish Gupta, MD and CEO, United Bank of India.
