RBI approves Shikha Sharma’s appointment

Mumbai, May 22 The Reserve Bank of India has approved the appointment of Ms Shikha Sharma as the MD & CEO of Axis Bank, according to a senior official of the private sector bank.

Ms Sharma, who quit ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company as the MD & CEO last month, will be inducted into the Axis Bank board once the shareholders accord their approval to her appointment at a meeting to be held on June 1. There is no clarity yet as to who will appointed as the new Chairman.
