Entrepreneurship States - Kerala TiE Kerala team visits Singapore Our Bureau Kochi, May 20 A 12-member business delegation from Kerala chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) visited Singapore to explore areas in which Kerala entrepreneurs could work with companies in Singapore as well as to explore avenues where investments from Singapore could be attracted to Kerala. TiE Singapore hosted the delegation and made arrangements for the business tour. The delegation was led by Mr Shivadas Menon, President of Kerala chapter of TiE. The delegation visited the office of Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and held discussions with senior functionaries. The delegation also held talks with members of IIT Alumini, Venture Capital Association of Singapore and Kerala Association. The Executive Director of TiE, Wg Cdr Chandrasekhar said that entrepreneurs from Singapore were keen on investing in business domains such as tourism, IT, electronics, education, Ayurveda and organic agriculture etc. But the perceptions about Kerala’s militant labour, bandhs and hartals and poor infrastructure cropped up in their discussions very often. By presenting their success stories, the members of TiE Kerala delegation were able to convince their counterparts in Singapore that the business environment in Kerala is becoming investor-friendly. Organisations such as TiE Singapore, SICCI, SBF and Kerala Association have expressed interest to bring their business delegations to Kerala during the course of the year. The feedback from members of the delegation as well as the business community of Singapore was highly positive and all of them felt that the exercise will have huge beneficial outcome to the entrepreneurial community both in Singapore and Kerala. This is the first time TiE Kerala takes out a delegation to an overseas chapter and this initiative to reach out to the world seems to be paying dividends as enquiries/business proposals from investors of Singapore have started coming in. TiE Kerala has decided to take at least one delegation every year as an annual feature in their calendar of events. More Stories on : Entrepreneurship | Kerala
