Mumbai Intl airport ties up with Travel Food Services

Our Bureau

Mumbai, May 13 Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) has tied up with the city-based Travel Food Services (TFS) for developing the food and beverage space in the two airports.

“As part of the deal, TFS will develop 35,000 sq ft of space for F&B offerings at the domestic and international terminals,” said Mr Sunil Kapur, Chairman, TFS.

Investment

The company will invest Rs 150 crore, funded by a mix of internal accrual and debt, in the next 18-24 months.

“According to our research, on an average, while passengers spend over Rs 120 buying food and beverage at the airports across the world, in India, the spends are limited to only to Rs 40. Therefore, we see a huge untapped potential in this space,” Mr Kapur told Business Line.

He added that hygiene, quality and high prices deterred passengers from eating at airports.

TFS has been incorporated by Mr Kapur, the founder promoter of Blue Foods, and Mr Amit Thacker of the Thacker Group which focuses on food, real estate and mining as core sectors.

franchisee partner

It is also a franchisee partner with the likes of McDonalds, Dominos, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Baskin Robbins, Café Coffee Day, Gelato Italiano, Sagar Ratna, Arabian Nites, and Mad Over Donuts.

Blue Foods, with a turn over of Rs 100 crore annually, operates and runs brands such as “Copper Chimney”, “Bombay Blue”, “Noodle Bar”, “Gelato Italiano”, “Blue Sea”, “Spaghetti Kitchen”, “Bombay Brasserie”, “Spoon”, “Foodtalk” and others.
