Agri-Biz & Commodities - Commodity Exchanges
NCDEX's new delivery system

Kochi, May 2

NCDEX has introduced warehouse receipt based delivery system in rubber futures. The new system would come into effect from May 4. Although, this leading exchange in agricultural commodities has been following demat-based system of settlement for all its commodities transactions, it has made this special exemption considering the unique market requirements of rubber contracts, a press release issued here has said. As the margins are thin in rubber trade and it requires a fast turn around time, the warehouse receipt based system was seen to be ideally suited for this commodity. The exchange has tied up with the Central warehousing corporation to handle the assaying and storage for rubber. If the rubber meets the specifications, CWC will issue a negotiable receipt that could be tendered for delivery on the exchange platform. The basis centre for RSS4 grade rubber contract would be Kochi while Kottayam, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Manjeri would be additional delivery centres. - Our Bureau
