UTV Software net dips 40% in Q4

Our Bureau Mumbai, April 30 UTV Software Communications has posted a 40 per cent fall in net profit at Rs 11.23 crore for the fourth quarter (Rs 18.75 crore in 2007-08) due to losses in broadcasting, gaming and new media divisions. Total revenue grew by 7.7 per cent to Rs 208.68 crore. For the year ended March 31, 2009, the company has reported a net profit of Rs 85.63 crore against Rs 57.65 crore in the last fiscal, up 48.53 per cent.

UTV said in a statement that the three verticals, which are still in investment mode, contributed to an operating loss of Rs 46 crore. “Had we not invested in these activities, our operating profit would have been higher,” it added.
