Horticulture/Fruits & Vegetables States - Other States New Delhi to host international horticulture exhibition Our Bureau Mumbai, April 30 An international exhibition of horticulture products and related services has been scheduled to be held in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan between June 5 and 7. Dubbed the International Horti-Expo 2009, the event will cover nine segments, including food and agribusiness, organic products, processing and packaging, logistics, seed agrochemicals and irrigation, food retailing, medicinal, herbal expo as well as finance and insurance. Support for eventThe event is supported by a number of Government departments including the National Horticulture Board, National Medicinal Plant Board and APEDA. Private bodies such as Indian Retail Association and All India Food Processors Association also are involved in the exhibition. The country’s horticulture sector is currently witnessing transformation with small growers taking up cultivation of fruits and vegetables, including exotic ones. At the same time, large corporate houses are entering this business with sizeable investment and infusion of technology. Advent of organised food retail has accelerated positive changes. Because it covers a wide range of inter-related activities, the exhibition would provide a unique opportunity not only for buyers and sellers to meet, but also help service providers showcase their services to potential customers, the organisers said.
