Railways States - Tamil Nadu 4 killed in train mishap
A suburban train collided with a goods train at the Vyasarpadi-Jeeva Railway junction in Chennai on Wednesday. - V. Ganesan Our Bureau Chennai, April 29 A local train collided with a goods train at Vyasarpadi junction leaving four people dead and 11 injured during the early hours of Wednesday. Five were critically injured and the others suffered minor injuries. According to a Southern Railway press release, the local train was started from the Moore Market complex by unauthorised miscreants at 5 am. On account of this accident, train traffic was affected between Chennai Central and Arakkonam. Mr K.J.S. Naidu, Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle – Bangalore, will hold a statutory inquiry into the accident on Thursday. Trains arriving at Chennai Central such as Cheran Express and Cauvery Express were terminated at Avadi. Other trains were either terminated at Ambattur or Arakkonam.
