StanChart expanding call centre operations

Our Bureau

Chennai, April 28 Standard Chartered is expanding the call centre operations of its outsourcing hub Scope International in India. The staff strength in the call centre operations of Bangalore and Chennai together could double over the year to around 2,200 to support the group’s growth plans in the country and other markets.

The staff strength will rise in the medium term as the call centre services more markets across the Standard Chartered footprint. Bangalore and Chennai currently service customers in India and the UAE, respectively. Currently, both centres handle in-bound and out-bound customer calls, and Chennai handles collection-related services for the UAE. This will be expanded by March 2010, according to a press release issued by Standard Chartered.

Scope International, the global shared services centre for the Standard Chartered Group, is an integral part of the bank and handles a range of value-added and complex services.
