Good news for agri-logistics

Sriganganagar in Rajasthan recently witnessed the commissioning of an agri-logistics park. Spread over more than 2.5 lakh sq.ft with a storage capacity of 25,000 tonnes, the park is to provide logistics solutions to farming and trading community to prevent wastage and the consequent loss of value of food products. On arrival, the produce will be cleaned, graded, processed and packaged. There will also be weighing and testing facilities at the park. This is the second such outfit launched by Shree Subham Logistics belonging to Kalpataru Group in Rajasthan and the third in the country, the others being at Unjha in Gujarat and Merta in Rajasthan. The company, inquiries reveal, has ambitious plans to set up a chain of agri-logistics parks of world-class standards in 41 locations all over the country with an investment totalling Rs 600 crore. In the first phase, there will be 11 such parks – seven in Rajasthan and four in Gujarat – with a total investment of about Rs 150 crore. The future locations identified for the purpose include Bikaner, Jodhpur, Alwar, Kota, Ramganj Mandi, Deesa and Rajkot.
