Andhra Cements’ Q4 net down 17.5%

Hyderabad, April 24

Andhra Cements Ltd’s net profit decreased 17.5 per cent at Rs 14.28 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2009 compared with Rs 17.32 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal. The total revenue increased 31.5 per cent at Rs 110 crore (Rs 82 crore). Increase in raw material costs, power, fuel and employee expenses, among others reduced the profitability of the Hyderabad-based company. For the full year, the revenue increased to Rs 369 crore (Rs 331 crore). The net profit decreased 5.3 per cent at Rs 63 crore (Rs 66.5 crore). The earnings per share stood at Rs 4.84 (Rs 5.44). The company is currently implementing an expansion project to increase production capacity from 1.4 million tonnes to 3.5 million tonnes a year, Andhra Cements informed the BSE. —
