Our Bureau Mumbai, April 23 Aditya Birla group company Idea Cellular on Thursday reported a 9.5 per cent rise in standalone net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2009. The telecom operator reported a net profit of Rs 303.2 crore against Rs 276.7 crore reported in the same quarter a year ago. Revenues for the quarter increased by 44.1 per cent to Rs 2,862.6 crore (Rs 1,985.3 crore). On a consolidated basis, it reported a marginal decline of 0.8 per cent in net profit to Rs 274.3 crore (Rs 276.7 crore). Revenues for the quarter were up by 47.8 per cent to Rs 2,935.6 crore (Rs 1,985.3 crore). The Idea Cellular scrip was up by 1.31 per cent to close at Rs 57.8 on the BSE. For the full year ended March 2009, Idea Cellular has reported a 47.9 per cent rise in standalone revenues to Rs 9,810.2 crore (Rs 6,737.4 crore). Earlier this month, the company had announced its entry into the Orissa circle. It plans to launch mobile services in Tamil Nadu by June, it said in a statement.
