Performance Coca-Cola India unit case volume rises 31% in Q1 Our Bureau New Delhi, April 21 India continues to bring cheer to the Coca-Cola company, which reported a 31 per cent unit case volume growth for the Indian market for the first quarter of 2009. Worldwide unit case volume of the American beverage company grew 2 per cent during Q1 2009 even as profits fell 10 per cent on restructuring charges and writedowns. Growth in international markets was at 3 per cent. China recorded a 10 per cent growth in unit case volumes. One unit case is 24 bottles of 8 ounces of beverage. The currency neutral comparable operating income during the period grew 17 per cent. Region-wise, Eurasia and Africa also reported a 17 per cent growth while growth in North America was 35 per cent. During the last quarter of 2008, the unit case volume increased 28 per cent in India. An official release pointed out that this was the eleventh straight quarter of growth, with eight delivering double- digit growth with the latest quarter being the highest.
