‘I do stretching, breathing exercises to keep fit’

Rasheeda Bhagat

How physically tiring is this continuous campaign for you, because polling in Andhra Pradesh gets over in the first two phases.

Well, nothing very tiring.

Perhaps being a doctor, you know how to take care of your health and take this extra stress in your stride! So how do you keep fit? Morning walk, exercise, yoga, etc?

Yeah, I do all that.

Everything?

I do stretching and some breathing exercises…

And walking.. or treadmill?

No I don’t do that… but I do stretches and breathing exercises; not exactly yoga but like yoga.

So what time does your day begin, and how much time do you devote to exercising?

My day begins at 4.30 a.m., and I work out for one hour. That’s it.

What about your diet? Are you careful about what you eat?

Yes, I am.

But during elections doesn’t everything go for a toss?

Not really, I manage to keep to my routine diet.

(His Officer on Special Duty, Mr Ravichander, adds that the chief minister’s diet usually comprises “phulkas, vegetables and some non-vegetarian items too. And he works on the campaign from 9.20 a.m. to 10 p.m.”)

So after April 23, what will you do as the Andhra Pradesh polls get over on that day? Will a big headache be over for you?

Yeah, I guess so… and I will get back to normal life.

And what is normal life? For most people getting up at 4.30 a.m. is hardly normal life!

Well, what I meant was that for more than one month I have been electioneering. That part will be over. I’ll do other things… and go back to my regular work.
