Strides gets US nod for AIDS drug

Strides Arcolab Ltd said it has received tentative USFDA approval for its 11th new drug application for combination AIDS drug under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief . The latest approval is for a fixed dose combination of lamivudine and stavudine tablets 150 mg/30 mg under the expedited review provisions of PEPFAR. The company supplies ARV products to global procurement agencies. A release quoted Mr V.S. Iyer, CEO - India Operations, as saying, "This takes the total NDA/ANDA approvals received to 11 under the PEPFAR programme. This, combined with our pipeline of second line drugs, will make us a significant player in the quality, affordable multi-source anti-retrovirals business segment.
