Global medicare destination

Hyderabad, March 25

Hyderabad, which is emerging as a global medicare destination, has added one more country, Uzbekistan, to the list of countries from where patients are coming in regularly. “It all started when a high-profile patient from the country got treated for a cardiac problem last year. As the word spread there, we have started getting more and more enquiries,” Mr Sudhakar Jadhav, Head (Operations) of Wockhardt in Hyderabad, said. Addressing a press conference here, he said there were about 30 patients lined up from Uzbekistan. The hospital had received 40 patients from Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the UK and the US in 2008. “We are targeting to attract 150 patients from other countries,” he said.
