Online Marketing Industry & Economy - Automobiles States - Gujarat Providing a platform: Now, an online portal for used cars Our Bureau Ahmedabad, March 8 It is said that when women become entrepreneurs, they do things differently and change the rules of the game. In one such attempt to provide a professional platform to the buyers and sellers of used and new vehicles, 21-year-old Ms Jainee P. Gordhandas has turned entrepreneur with the launch of BIGgaddi.com. BIGgaddi is an online cum offline channel for buying and selling of used vehicles, both two-wheeler and four-wheelers. “According to a study, for every new vehicle bought, there is a sale or purchase of two used vehicles. This ratio shows the business opportunity available in the used vehicle business,” said Ms Jainee. The young entrepreneur has plans to take this online portal and the offline network of collection centres to every State in the country and has started making it accessible to people in Gujarat. There is an investment plan for Rs one crore over the next two to three years and recognised streams of revenue are advertisements from dealers, banks, expansions in the offline business and charges from users of the Web site, approximately Rs 200 a vehicle. Currently, the Web site is free for all, as a promotional gesture. She expects to break even in two years’ time with this business model. The offline network will be for those who do not have access to the internet. The users of the Web site will be able to plug in their loan amount along with interest rate and loan term. It will automatically calculate the EMI and interest amount. Some of the other features of the site are mileage calculator, service and insurance payment reminders, dealer and service centre locator and user feedback. “I like the idea of the Web site as it will organise the scattered used dealer market of India. There were lots of fly-by-night operators in the business and this will make it more professional,” said Mr Rustom Cama, Chief Executive Officer, Cama Motors. Ms Jainee is a graduate and is pursuing a course in Chartered Accountancy. Having handled her grandfather’s chemical business since she was in standard 12, and worked in the development and promotion of staffavailable.com, the launch of the automobile portal was natural for her, she said.
