The downturn is forcing the media fraternity to break the hype about IIM placements, that it had created in earlier years.

The placement committees of IIMs were equally culpable in creating such hype.

Dollar salaries were always boasted of, despite hardly 15 per cent of each batch getting placed internationally.

Therefore, now, the MBA aspirants will be more realistic in their aspirations. But the media too has a role to play in not hyping up the placement process when the economy improves.
