Nabard programme on agri marketing

Our Correspondent

Madurai, March 4 A one-day sensitisation programme on ‘Scheme for development and strengthening of agricultural marketing infrastructure, grading and standardisation’, organised by National Bank Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard), was held at Tirunelveli

The programme highlighted the assistance available under Nabard schemes.

Mr M. Ramadoss, Senior Regional Manager, Indian Overseas Bank, inaugurating the programme, said that with 40 per cent of farm produce going waste, agriculturists needed to adopt superior post-harvest techniques to have better price for their produce and the Nabard-sponsored scheme sought to fulfill the need and benefit them immensely.

Mr J. Suresh, Assistant General Manager, Nabard, Tirunelveli; Ms Usha Gopalakrishnan, Manager, Regional Office, Nabard, Chennai and Mr R. Mohanasundaram, Senior Marketing Officer, Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure, Directorate of Marketing and Inspection, Madurai, explained the various provisions under the scheme.
