Areva T&D Q4 profit dips 34% on high input cost

New Delhi, Feb. 20 Areva T&D India Ltd on Friday reported a dip of 34 per cent in fourth-quarter net profit, with raw material costs surging sharply.

Net profit fell to Rs 55.24 crore during the quarter ended December 31 from Rs 83.91 crore a year earlier, the company said in a statement to Bombay Stock Exchange. Revenue rose 27 per cent to Rs 939 crore (Rs 740 crore), even as raw material costs zoomed 58 per cent to Rs 618 crore (Rs 392 crore).

For the year ended December 31, 2008, the company posted a marginal increase in net profit at Rs 226.32 crore. Total income increased from Rs 2,023.15 crore in 2007 to Rs 2,655.45 crore.

The company will pay a dividend of Rs 1.8 a share, it said.

The Areva T&D stock closed 3.41 per cent down on the BSE on Friday at Rs 181.50 a share.
