Events Corporate - New Projects BEL, Boeing to set up analysis centre Our Bureau Bangalore, Feb. 10 Bharat Electronics Ltd and Boeing plan to set up a joint analysis and experimentation centre to enable the Armed Forces explore alternative solutions in an atmosphere of simulation and modelling. BEL said an MoU would be signed during the Aero India 2009. Boeing will be replicating its analysis centres in Australia and the UK. Local staffThe centre, to be staffed by local personnel, will offer the latest modelling, simulation and analysis tools so that BEL’s customers can experiment and analyse the utility of new technologies or tactics on military operations. Financial details and location of the centre were not available. The facility will enable government and industry to explore alternative and appropriate solutions to current defence requirements and get a feel of the final product without spending directly on design and products. It will reduce deviations in the final product, Mr I.V. Sarma, Director (Research & Development), BEL. “The joint facility will be staffed with local personnel who will work with the Ministry of Defence to identify their capability needs. Together, we will develop in-country processes that allow for the development of local intellectual property as well as integrate non-US products into our environment,” he said. “Establishing a decision support capability in India is another step for Boeing as our company successfully expands internationally,” said Mr Vivek Lall, Vice-President and country head, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. Cut costs, time“This is an opportunity for Boeing to work closely with one of India’s foremost public sector companies and together develop tools and technologies that will bring enduring benefits to India,” said Mr Dinesh Keskar, President of Boeing India. “This will ultimately reduce the time, cost and risk of bringing new and better capabilities to India’s defence forces.” More Stories on : Events | New Projects | Airlines
