KVGB biz touches Rs 5500 cr

Mangalore, Feb. 3

The Dharwad-based Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB) - a regional rural bank sponsored by Syndicate Bank - has recorded a business of Rs 5,500 crore till the end of January during the current financial year. Mr K.P. Muralidharan, Chairman of KVGB, said this after inaugurating a campaign to mobilise accounts in Dharwad on Tuesday. A bank release said here that the total share of advances stood at Rs 2,560 crore during the period. Of this, the share of agriculture advance was Rs 1,700 crore. At present, KVGB is operating in nine districts. It serves nearly 38 lakh people through 409 branches. Among regional rural banks, KVGB occupies the first position in Karnataka and fourth in the nation having Rs 5,500 crore of business, he added. - Our Bureau
