Sagar Cements net down 65%

Hyderabad, Jan. 30

Sagar Cements Ltd’s net profit decreased 65 per cent to Rs 5.36 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008, compared with Rs 8.88 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The total income had increased 13 per cent to Rs 79.85 crore (Rs 69.32 crore). The net profit was impacted by a two-fold increase in raw material costs, among others. The earnings per share stood at Rs 3.58 (Rs 6.67). The Hyderabad-based company had successfully co mpleted the expansion of its capacity from 0.60 million tonnes to 2.35 million tonnes at its plant in Mattampally, Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
