Fertilisers States - West Bengal Bengal seeks subsidy for bio-fertilizer use Our Bureau Kolkata, Jan. 28 The West Bengal Government plans to substitute 20 per cent of chemical fertiliser by bio-fertiliser by the end of the 11th Five Year Plan, according to Mr Naren Dey, Minister of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, West Bengal. The State Government has written a letter to the Centre urging for subsidy for the use of bio-fertiliser. “I have written a letter to Mr Ram Vilas Paswan urging for subsidy for the use of bio-fertilisers in place of chemical fertilisers,” Mr Dey said while speaking at a symposium on Agriculture in West Bengal, organised by the Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce here on Wednesday. Chemical fertilisers get a subsidy of about 80 per cent, Mr Dey pointed out. There is a need to enhance crop intensity in order to improve productivity, Mr Dey said.
