ERP solutions: Mr Gabriele Del Torchio, CEO and President, Ducati, with Mr S. Ramadorai, CEO and Managing Director, TCS, and Mr N. Chandrasekaran, Chief Operating Officer, TCS, with a Ducati sports motorbike during a press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday. Our Bureau Mumbai, Jan. 20 Tata Consultancy Services has won a multi-year contract from Ducati to deploy ERP solutions for the Italian super bike major in Europe. However, financial details of the deal were not disclosed. For Ducati, which has IT outsourcing engagements with several US-based firms, this is the first instance of partnering with an Indian IT vendor, Mr Gabriele Del Torchio, CEO & President, Ducati, said at a news conference here on Tuesday. “Since we are a medium-sized company, the degree of closeness and comfort with our partner is very important,” he said, adding that Ducati also took into account the work TCS has been doing with Ferrari in recent times. TCS has been providing IT services for Ferrari since 2004. Engineers and specialists from the Indian software company have been helping Ferrari derive more business value from their design software for the Formula 1 racing car and the Ferrari sports car. Late last year, Ferrari had said the Tata brand would appear on the Ferrari car, starting 2009. So would the Tata brand also be etched on Ducati’s super bikes someday? “We have to demonstrate our capability with Ducati like we have done with our clients in the past. Associating with a global player enhances the reputation of TCS,” said Mr S. Ramadorai, Managing Director and CEO of TCS.
