Agricultural Institutions States - Maharashtra Nabard sees Rs 29,999-cr credit flow to Maharashtra Our Bureau Pune, Jan. 20 The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has projected the credit requirements for Maharashtra’s farm sector at Rs 29,999 crore for 2009-10. This is an increase of 14 per cent against the credit projections of 2008-09 estimated at Rs 26,269 crore. Releasing the focus paper of the State, Mr Sukhbir Singh, Chief General Manager, Nabard, informed that the projections were based on the potential-linked plan (PLP) for all agricultural, allied activities, rural non-farm sector, and other segments of the priority sector. The projections estimated for agriculture sector stood at Rs 19,291 crore, for NFS (non-farm sector) Rs 3,238 crore; and for other priority sector Rs 7,470 crore. Mr Singh said the projections included 15 per cent allocation for primary crop loans amounting to Rs 13,556 crore, higher than the Rs 11,840 crore. The other major projections included water resources Rs 1,265.73 crore (Rs 1,105.98 crore, up by 14 per cent), farm mechanisation Rs 1,194.25 crore (Rs 1,034.77 crore, up by 15 per cent), animal husbandry Rs 1,041.01 crore (Rs 993.54 crore, an increase of five per cent) plantation and horticulture Rs 1,300.82 crore (Rs 1,177.17 crore, increase of 11 per cent). He said a road map for enhancement of credit flow to agricultural sector has also been taken which included preparation of over 100 model bankable projects and had been circulated among banks facilitating financing of new projects and advised banks to broadbase KCC by including consumption credit as well as investment debit.
