The Crime Investigation Department (CID) sleuths have taken Mr B. Ramalinga Raju (former Chairman of Satyam Computer Services), Mr Rama Raju (former Managing Director), and Mr Vadlamani (former Chief Financial Officer) into custody on Sunday.

The Rajus and Mr Srinivas, who were stationed at Chanchalguda Jail serving judicial custody, were taken to the CID office at Masab Tank here at 12.30 p.m. and quizzed separately.

It is learnt that the trio were asked some basic questions. “From tomorrow, they will be grilled on several aspects related to the fraud. Top CID officials, including Mr V.S.K. Kaumudi (IG of Economic Officences Wing), Mr Shivanarayana (Additional DG) and Mr K. Satyanarayana Rao (IG), are expected to take part in tomorrow’s grilling,” police said.

“The police questioned them in the presence of lawyers as permitted by the court,” Mr S. Bharat Kumar, lawer for the Rajus, told Business Line.

The Sixth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Mr D. Ramakrishna, had allowed the police to take the three for four days (till January 22) of custody.

Mr Bharat Kumar said he would file a revision application in the High Court on Monday, contesting the award of police custody.

SEBI plea

Meanwhile, the petition filed by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), appealing to the court to give permission to question Mr Ramalinga Raju, would come up for hearing on Monday.

The bail petition filed by Mr Rajus’ lawyers too would be heard the same day.
