People New chief for footwear institute Chennai, Jan. 18 Mr M. Rafeeque Ahmed, Chairman, Farida Group of Companies, has been appointed the chairman of Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) under the Commerce Ministry. According to an official press release, he will head the institute for a three-year period from January 12. Mr Rafeeque Ahmed, who is presently the President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Tamil Nadu State Council, is an industry leader in leather and leather products industry. He was earlier the Chairman, Council for Leather Exports under the Commerce Ministry and now heads a number of industry associations. FDDI is the premier institute for infrastructure development for the footwear industry and is a centre of excellence and premier institute for fashion and retail institutions, the release said.- Our Bureau More Stories on : People | Leather | Education
