New Products & Services Sherwin-Williams Paints opens 4 stores Our Bureau Bangalore, Jan. 15 The US-based Sherwin-Williams Paints opened four company-owned stores here on Thursday. These stores will be the first such stores for Sherwin, which has about 3,300 outlets across the US and Canada, in India. Sherwin-Williams Paints acquired Nitco Paints, an Indian paint company, in April 2007, marking its entry into the Indian paint market, and “we are consolidating our presence in India through these stores”, said Mr Sanjiv Batra, Country Head, Sherwin-Williams Paints India. The stores will offer a wide range of interior and exterior paints, painting accessories and tool, and market the company’s wood-care products under the ‘Ronseal’ brand. They will also offer a “touch and feel experience for our customers, including builders, painters, end-users, architects/specifiers, designers and contractors,” he said. They will be manned by highly trained professionals. “We also plan to introduce innovative products to suit every budget and need in India,” added Mr Batra. “New products would account for an increasing percentage of the company’s sales plan.” Depending on the performance of these stores in Bangalore, the company proposes to “formulate its marketing policy for the country”, which includes plans for more retail stores across India, he said. The company has its manufacturing plant at Taloja, near Mumbai. More Stories on : New Products & Services | Paints | Retailing
