3G auction delayed further

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Jan. 8 The auction for 3G mobile spectrum will get further delayed. The Department of Telecom had earlier said that it will issue the notice inviting tender on Thursday but it has not yet received the Cabinet approval for the policy.

This is the second time that the 3G auctions have been pushed back. It was first announced that the auction will take place on January 16. However, the Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs is still to discuss key policy issues including the base price.

Even if the CCEA gives its nod, it will take at least a week more for the DoT to set out new dates for the auction.
