New Delhi, Dec. 26

Briefing newspersons after the CCEA meeting, the Home Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, said that the continuation of the scheme involves an outlay of Rs 180 crore. It is not only proposed to build 65,000 houses for fishermen, but also extend financial support to about 500,000 active fishermen annually under the saving-cum-relief component of the scheme. Besides, annually coverage will be provided to 25 lakh fishermen under the group accident insurance and training will be provided to 6,000 fishermen under the training and extension component.
