FAPI concern over slow pace of revival of sick industries

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Dec. 25 The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Industries (FAPI) has said that despite the State Government forming a committee — The Andhra Pradesh Small Scale Industrial Rehabilitation Board — it has not met so far to discuss the possibilities of revival of sick industries in the State.

“The Committee was formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, with the Finance Minister, major and minor industries ministers, bankers and industrialists in 2006. But since then it has not even met once to discuss our problems,” Mr B.V. Rama Rao, President, The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Industries, said while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.

FAPI has also organised a meeting on December 29 with various industry representatives from 18 sectors to take a decision on when to close the units across the country.

“We want to bring it to the notice of the State as well as the Central Government that if our problems are not addressed immediately then we have no option but to close our units,” he said.
